I work with people whose bodies and minds are sending signals they can’t ignore anymore. I work from the perspective that all of these symptoms — pain, anxiety, rage, intrusive thoughts, sleep disturbances, compulsions, phobias and/or exhaustion — are messages from the brain. This perspective guides my work: it helps me understand what your nervous system is trying to communicate and how we can create the safety it needs to shift.

I’ve spent over 25 years working as a massage therapist, helping clients through acute and chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, and oncology care. It was through that work — observing patterns in how pain and the nervous system operated, even after the body had physically healed — that I began to notice the ways the brain perpetuates pain and anxiety. Some clients had been medically “cleared” yet were still living with persistent discomfort, while others had spent years in therapy understanding their anxiety or intrusive thoughts but still felt stuck, trapped in the emotional experience. Recognizing these patterns became the foundation for exploring clinical hypnotherapy, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, and Rapid Resolution Therapy.

It became clear to me that, despite the differences in presentation, there was a shared mechanism in the brain driving both — a way the nervous system was interpreting signals that kept them stuck in cycles of pain, fear, and hypervigilance. Recognizing this connection shifted the focus of my work: rather than only treating symptoms or teaching insight, I began exploring how to help the brain feel safe enough to reorganize and move out of these cycles.

That exploration led me to study clinical hypnotherapy, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT). Each of these modalities allows me to work with the brain in a conversational, client-centered way, using cognitive and somatic techniques to help your nervous system recognize safety. When the brain interprets sensations or emotions as safe, symptoms that once dominated your life — whether physical, emotional, or mental — can begin to ease.

The work isn’t about pushing harder, forcing results, or trying to “fix” yourself. It’s about noticing what your brain is trying to solve, slowing down enough for your nervous system to feel safe, and giving yourself the chance to respond differently. My goal is to help you leave the cycles that have kept you stuck behind and move forward in a way that feels natural, sustainable, and uniquely yours.

Welcome, I’m Barrett.

Testimonial

In 2022, my partner died suddenly, and in 2023, I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. I can confidently say that Barrett’s integrative approach to hypnotherapy and coaching over the past two years has truly transformed my life. Barrett’s deep understanding of body, mind and spirit impacts the way she intuitively asks questions and holds space.

The way she listens is second to none. She’s been deeply committed to me as her client in ways that have not only made me feel seen, valued and heard, but have also illuminated ways for me to see, value and hear myself. Because of my work with Barrett, my grief and oncology journeys have been beautiful, empowering and nuanced.
